Arts & Crafts for "Sewcial" Change

I'm Jessica. I'm a writer and a feminist, and I started sewing to maintain my sanity in these troubled times. If I had unlimited time and money and energy, I would give them to social justice organizations trying to make a difference. But I don't. So I'm trying to do as much as I can with what I have.

Handmade with love in Alameda, California

Here's what I've made lately:

“As far as we could tell, the face of the revolution was a sea of embroidering women, patiently waiting the resignation of their repressive governor.”

Diana Denham

“When pockets were first added to women’s clothing in 1913, a Paris reporter wrote, 'It’s all over with men’s superiority over women.' Pockets are indeed indispensable, and they come in two types: patch and set-in”
